Javier Tebas revealed when and how the league would restart if the current crisis can be reverted.

Almost 24 hours after the Royal Spanish Football Federation shared its views on how La Liga should solve the current problems generated by the coronavirus pandemic, La Liga's president Javier Tebas admitted that fans may have to wait for two months to watch their favorite teams kicking the ball around in Spanish stadiums.

Speaking in a web conference, Tebas opened up on the potential date in which Matchday 28 would take place if the spread of the disease is contained in Spain.

"UEFA's commission told us that we may be able to compete during the second half of May. They will make the decision once they see how the pandemic is being contained or not. It could also happen before that date, but we have targeted that date (May 16) to resume all activity," Tebas said.

The league's president added that playing behind closed doors is still being considered.

"We will make that call along with the health authorities in each country. We are preparing calendars for more than 30 European leagues. We have to work together," Tebas added.

If Tebas' claims come true, the Spanish top-flight would come restart on May 16 and would go on until July 12. In order for the league to end on that date, there would be two mid-week matchdays being played in July.
