The Spanish first and second division have both been suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic that has wreaked havoc all around the world, including Europe, LaLiga were forced to suspend their top two divisions. Play was halted until April 03 to 05, but should the season be unable to resume, they will be in for a huge financial loss.

Diario AS (as per Soccerex) took a look at the figures they will be set to miss out on if the remainder of the campaign is canceled, revealing that it could reach a whopping $756.8M. The league organizers aim to wrap up the 2019/20 term but with a solution to COVID-19 being out of sight, things are not looking great for football as a whole.

The issue of utmost importance is the health of the general public. It was recently revealed that Spanish top-flight side Valencia have seen 35 percent of their squad contract the virus. Nonetheless, Javier Tebas and Co. are well aware that failure to stage the remaining 12 Matchdays would be grave.

Cancelation of La Liga and the Segunda Division would see them lose $611.3M in TV rights. On top of that, writing off the remainder of the campaign would cost an additional $97.9M in LaLiga TV subscriptions $46.1M in stadium gate receipts.

A lot rides on the UEFA video-conference meeting taking place today on Tuesday to decide the fate of the Champions League, Europa League, Euro 2020 as well as the domestic top-flights. The result of that discussion will give clarity on what is to come.
