The Argentine footballer was killed in a plane crash back in January 2019, but there were some details about the accident that were yet to be determined.

Finally, we have gotten to know the reasons behind Emiliano Sala's fatal plane crash.

The Argentine footballer who died while en route to join Cardiff City last season, will finally rest in peace after the investigation to determine the causes for the plane crash where he died concluded today. }

A spokesman for the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) stated that the plane suffered an in-flight break-up after pilot David Ibbotson flew the aircraft above its design limits.

Investigators revealed that Ibbotson's lack of experience in night flying contributed to cause the crash.

Geraint Herbert, investigator in charge, added that "control of the aircraft was lost during a manually flown turn and the aircraft descended rapidly accelerating," the expert stated.

Herbert also assumed that Ibbotson - who's body was never recovered- may have also suffered from some sort of poisoning.

"It was likely that the pilot's ability to control the flight was impaired to some extent by carbon monoxide poisoning," Herbert added.

AAIB expert Alison Campbell added that these findings were made after listening to Ibbotson's transmissions.

"There was poor weather in the area, and from his radio calls, it was clear the pilot needed to maneuver to avoid it," the expert concluded.

Sala had signed a then-record-breaking deal with Cardiff City for $21M. He flew back to Nantes to say goodbye to his team-mates in a flight conducted by Ibbotson, but he was never able to make it back to Cardiff due to the circumstances mentioned above.
