We've reached the point of no return in the Clausura 2020 tournament, and the outcome of the games played this weekend could be the stepping stone to reach the playoffs...or it could also mean the inevitable downfall for those that are not lucky enough to fight for the title.
Cruz Azul will try to defend the top spot when they lock horns against Xolos at Azteca Stadium. The team from Mexico's final frontier does not fare well in CDMX, and that could work on Cruz Azul's favor. Elsewhere, América will try to beat Pumas one more time at Estadio Universitario to forget about their baffling loss last week, but the amount of absences in Las Águilas' roster may not do them ant favors.
Another interesting clash will take place in Monterrey, where the defending champions are still struggling to win their first game of the season. San Luis will be the team that will try to get the most out of them, and in the event of another loss for Rayados, we could be talking about their premature elimination from the title race.
Matchday 9 will begin with three games being played on Friday evening. Then, Saturday will bring four matches in a four-hour gap. The last two clashes will take place on Sunday, with Juárez and León putting a lock on the weekend.
