Gareth Bale is like Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of value, says Spurs’ Harry Redknapp. Now Live Soccer TV explains why this thought will only deny Bale from making a move to Real Madrid or any top team soon.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale arguably tops the list of football’s new sensations. His hat-trick against Internazionale in the group stages of the UEFA Champions League captured the eyes of the public and his services are now the envy of many coaches around Europe. A few days ago, Gareth Bale put teams on the alert by expressing his desire to try out new challenges in his career.

“You never know... if a great opportunity arises, you need to consider it seriously.” This is what the rising star told sports newspaper AS on Monday.

Although he is young, Gareth Bale is growing into a very important figure at White Hart Lane. He is a player that Tottenham Hotspur cannot afford to lose as Coach Harry Redknapp explained in details while speaking to ESPN Soccernet:

“We don't want to sell him. If you are looking to build a club, you can't be selling Gareth as then (Luka) Modric would want to go and then someone else would want to go.

“Then Tottenham would end up where they were four or five years ago, finishing halfway up the table each year. I had it at West Ham. We let Rio (Ferdinand) and Frank (Lampard) go and then the rest followed.”

Now there is something very interesting – and thus debatable – about transfer issues surrounding Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale. It’s all about the club’s enormous fear of losing their spark should they sell their top asset.

Fact: Gareth Bale is young and he hasn’t won any major trophy in his career. However, Harry Redknapp has allowed himself to rate the player as high as Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of money.

“Manchester United sold Ronaldo, but they got an offer of £80million. So in the end, it was good business. But we wouldn't want to sell a player like Gareth Bale at this time – when we're trying to build the club.

“It would have to be that type of figure. I’m sure it would have to be an amazing figure if you ever sold him. But how do you replace a player like that? It's very difficult.”

So it appears as if the issue of replacement is the main reason behind a prospective astronomical tag price set by Tottenham Hotspur on Bale. Now among all the big teams outside England that are interested in acquiring the player’s services, Real Madrid’s name has already been ruled out by the “Special One”, Jose Mourinho.

“Considering the amount of money involved, it won’t be easy to buy [Gareth Bale]. Also, we have players for his [left-wing, left-back] position,” said the outspoken manager according to The Sun.

“We have Cristiano Ronaldo – who plays in the same position he plays – and Marcelo at left-back. When you want to spend big money you do it in areas where you have problems.”

So it has been understood: Real Madrid are definitely not ready to splash money on a player who will have to compete so hard for a place in the team’s starting line up. One club that may agree on doing this, though, is Manchester City.

But then again, the Sky Blues are from England and Gareth Bale has already made it clear that if he quits Tottenham Hotspur, it would be for a giant team outside the country. Barcelona, Internazionale, AC Milan? Will any of these biggies do whatever it takes to secure the signature of Europe’s current hottest rising star?

Most, if not all promising players, dream of experiencing new challenges by quitting a club for an even bigger one. But based on the financial matters involved, perhaps Gareth Bale “needs a few years playing at home. He is only a boy and he has plenty of time to do that later in his career,” as Harry Redknapp believes.
