The Argentine ace also confirmed a meeting with club president Josep Maria Bartomeu to discuss this matter.

Barcelona's social media scandal has taken most headlines this week, and Lionel Messi has finally stepped up to share his views on the matter.

Speaking in an interview with Mundo Deportivo, the Argentine superstar admitted his surprise when president Josep María Bartomeu discussed this issue with the team's captains and coach Quique Setién in a private meeting.

"I was a bit shocked, because I was flying back here when the news came out. The president told us the same thing he stated in his press conference. I can't say much more, but he shared the same words with us captains," Messi stated.

The player went on to share his views on this matter, especially since he was one of the main targets in the investigation conducted by Cadena Ser Catalunya.

"It was a bit odd. The media outlet said they would show their evidence to the public, and we will have to wait if there is any truth to that. We can't say that too much about it, but I find it to be a bit strange," Messi added.

Last, but not least, Messi decided to rubbish all those claims about a possible exit from the club due to this latest scandal.

"I love Barcelona, it is my home. I miss Rosario (Argentina, his place of birth), but I've been here more than I have been in Argentina. I also love the city and I love the everyday things I can do here," Messi concluded.
