Key stats

  • Atletico have won eight of their 10 two-legged encounters with English club, only being eliminated in Europe by Derby Country and Bolton Wanderers.

  • PSG boast the best defensive record in the Champions League this season, conceding only two goals – both came in a single game against Real Madrid.

  • This will be RB Leipzig's first clash with an English club but Tottenham have experience against German outfits, winning four consecutive matches against Dortmund before being losing 10-3 on aggregate against Bayern Munich in this season’s group stage.

  • Chelsea will be aiming to end their run of three consecutive round of 16 exits in the Champions League when they take on Bayern Munich. Having been knocked out by PSG (2x) and Barcelona at this stage in recent years.

  • Napoli have lost their last four two-legged ties against Spanish oppositions, emerging triumphant only once (vs Valencia). However, they face a Barcelona side that has won only six times in their last 16 European away games.

  • Man City are in search of their first win over Los Blancos, failing to win once in four encounters (D2, L2).

Key talking point: All eyes on Man City ahead of the knockout stage

Several exciting games are on its way for the round of 16. However, all eyes will be on the clash between Man City and Real Madrid. The reasons are obvious – besides the fact that they are two top European clubs, the recent ban UEFA dished out to the Citizens means this could be their last opportunity at winning this trophy until 2023.

The Premier League giants have appealed the ban but could lose their case, putting all the more pressure on their current campaign. With English top-flight race being over, this is their only shot at a major title. Unfortunately, Los Blancos are back in form and are a hard team to break down.
