Despite dominating Los Leones for most of the game, Messi and Co will not win this competition for a second year in a row.

Neither Real Madrid nor Barcelona will be playing in the 2019-20 Copa del Rey semi-finals. Both Spanish giants were handed tough losses on the very same day by Basque sides, and Los Blaugranas have all reasons to be embarrassed after such a whopping loss.

Not even Lionel Messi could save Barcelona from this disappointing result. The Argentine ace missed a massive chance in front of goal with two minutes left in regulation, giving way for Iñaki Williams late header that propelled Los Leones to the next round.

Williams' goal was, in fact, the reason why Barcelona will be humbled by this result, as they had never been eliminated from this competition in such fashion.

"FT ATH 1-0 FCB. Athletic has ended Barceona's six-year streak playing the Copa del Rey final (record). Barcelona has been eliminated from the Copa del Rey by a goal in stoppage time for the first time in the tournament's 117-year history."

This will also be the first time since 2003 in which the Copa del Rey will not have Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atlético or Sevilla playing the semi-finals.
