The battle to top La Liga will see Atlético visiting Real Madrid this weekend. Find out what else could go down this weekend in the Spanish top-flight.

Matchday 22 will see Real Madrid defending the top spot for the first time in weeks, following their rise to No. 1 after last week's victory at Valladolid. Real Madrid will face a tough test against Atlético, in what will be one more edition of the Madrid Derby.

Barcelona will be quite interested in the outcome of this game, since they could reclaim the top spot if Madrid slips against their bitter rivals. Los Culés will face Levante at home, hoping that their 5-0 win against Leganés in the Copa del Rey can be enough motivation to see them going back to winning ways in the league.

Third-placed side Sevilla will also have a complicated game at home when they host Alavés. Los Hispalenses took advantage of Atlético's draw last week, and they will be looking closely at the game between the Madrid-based teams to see if they can add to their current lead over Los Colchoneros and maybe close in on Barcelona.

Without further ado, here's what you need to keep an eye on for Matchday 22 in La Liga.

Coach's quotes ahead of Matchday 22

Zinedine Zidane spoke ahead of the Madrid derby, and in true Zidane-esque fashion, he decided to heap praise on his rival, Diego Simeone, especially due to the recent criticism "El Cholo" has been facing.

"I don't understand why he's being criticized, but in the end, it's not up to us. I know the type of coach Simeone is. They said Guardiola was the best out there, but Simeone has proven that he's also one of the best in the business. What the world has to say about Simeone does not affect what I think of him," the coach stated.
