The 22-year-old joins Spurs from PSV and is keen on beginning life in the Premier League.

Tottenham have finally completed the signing of a striker in their bid to bolster their attack in Harry Kane’s absence. Despite all the links with Piatek and Giroud, the north London giants have gone elsewhere in their pursuit.

As confirmed by the club, Spurs have secured the services of Dutch attacker Steven Bergwijn. The 22-year-old has made the move to the English capital from his home country of the Netherlands where he plied his trade for PSV.

Steven has put pen to paper on a deal that will keep him at Tottenham until 2025, with this transfer costing $35M. He will now wear the 23 shirt.

Bergwijn has made 16 appearances this season for his now-former employers PSV, scoring five times. Overall, he racked up 149 games for the Eredivisie outfits, netting 31 goals in total.

“It’s an amazing move for me, an amazing club,” Steven told the club’s official website

“Just look around the training ground, it’s amazing. It’s an honor to be here. I just spoke to the manager as well. When I was a young boy I looked up to a coach like Jose Mourinho, now I play for him.”

Mourinho will hope his latest signing will adapt to the Premier League quickly given their need for a goal poacher. Tottenham have only scored two goals in the league since losing their talisman striker on New Year’s Day, which has been a huge blow to their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League – they are six points adrift of fourth spot.
