FA Cup: How to watch Shrewsbury Town vs Liverpool

FA Cup: How to watch Shrewsbury Town vs Liverpool live on January 26, 2020

January 25, 2020 By Ali M.
The Reds will be in action in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday and will be aiming to make it 10 straight wins in all competitions. Check out our match preview for more info.

What is the form of Shrewsbury Town compared to Liverpool?

Shrewsbury Town’s form as of late has not been great. The League One outfit have won only one of their last seven games, losing two and drawing four of the remaining games. Stretch that run to 15 games and Liverpool’s opponents have tasted only five victories, losing four and drawing five.

As for the Reds, their form is nothing short of impeccable – but you probably already know that. The Merseyside giants are on a nine-game winning streak since their B XI lost in the League Cup to Aston Villa. When it comes to their regular first-team squad, Klopp’s mean have lost only once this entire season and that was against Napoli in the Champions League, winning all but two of their remaining fixtures (D2).

Shrewsbury Town vs Liverpool head-to-head record

These two sides have met only once before. That fixture came back in February 1996, with the Reds triumphing 4-0 over the now League One outfit. The Shrews have only lost one of their last 17 home FA Cup games, however, a figure which could give them a glimmer of hope against Klopp’s rampant side.

Team news

The home side have a few concerns heading into this tie. Scott Golbourne is a doubt but will be assessed while Romain Vincelot and Ryan Sears are both sidelined for this clash.

As for the Premier League leaders, they will likely hand several key players a rest for this tie. The Reds are yet to lose a single game in the English top-flight but after the congestive festive period, the likes of Salah, Van Dijk, Alisson, and  Alexander-Arnold could do with a breather.

Sadio Mane will miss this game due to injury after hurting his hamstring in the 2-1 win over Wolves. The extent of this knock remains unknown but it is safe to say he won’t participate in Sunday’s trip. The same is true for Milner and Shaqiri, who are both injured, but Keita could make his return in this tie.
