The French giants also revealed that one European heavyweight has already made a bid for the Uruguayan.

Rumors linking Edinson Cavani with a PSG exit have been doing the round for quite some time now. The Uruguayan has been linked with a move to Spain and England, with his current contract set to expire this summer.

His Ligue 1 employers have now confirmed the South American ace wants out of the club. Sporting director Leonardo has confirmed that the 33-year-old has handed in a transfer request.

Leonardo insisted that Les Parisiens' intentions were to extend the former Napoli star’s Parc des Princes stay. However, their hopes of agreeing on an extension have been dashed.

Cavani does not wish to see out his contract and is keen on a winter exit. PSG’s sporting director confirmed that Atletico Madrid have made a bid for the Uruguayan, but that offer was rejected by the French champions.

"We've always said the same thing. We were hoping he would stay with the club, but today (Sunday) he asked to leave,” Leonardo said (as per Sky Sports) after the club’s French Cup win over Lorient.

"We're studying the situation. We've had a proposal from Atletico Madrid, but that proposal was not commensurate with the player's value."

There was no mention of Man United and Tottenham, which suggests a move to Spain is the likeliest outcome. The Red Devils and Spurs are both in need of a goalscorer and were rumored to be interested in the 33-year-old as a short-term fix to Rashford’s and Kane’s respective injuries.

Leonardo also opened up about the recent rumors linking Layvin Kurzawa to Arsenal. With both Tierney and Kolasinac being injured, the Gunners are in need of a left-back and reportedly turned their attention to the French defender. However, the PSG sporting director revealed that there have been no negotiations with the north London giants.
