The Gunners captain has been linked with a move to Spain given that his contract ends in 2021.

Things might be looking positive for Arsenal under new coach Mikel Arteta but the issue of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s future remains a worrying issue for the club.

The Gabonese striker has been the club’s star player this season. Despite a few dry spells in front of goal as of late, the Gunners captain is his team’s leading scorer and is the second-highest scorer in the Premier League with 13 strikes to his name.

However, come this summer, the 30-year-old will be entering the final year of his current contract and talks over an extension have reportedly not been successful. As a result, rumors have linked him with a move to Real Madrid.

Aubameyang himself addressed these reports in the programme notes for their recent FA Cup clash with Leeds. The former Dortmund man squashed the claims, pledging his allegiance to the club.

"I would also like to react to some of the rumors that are going around about me in the media,” the Arsenal skipper wrote.

"People like making up stories and they should focus on what's happening on the pitch.

"They talk too much and it does my head in! I am the Arsenal captain. I love this club.

"I am committed to it and desperate to bring it back to the top, where it belongs."

However, unless the attacker puts pen to paper on a new deal, Aubameyang’s words will be nothing more than that. The north London giants could be forced to sell or will face losing him for close to nothing.
