With both players wanting to leave their current clubs, Tottenham wants to cut their losses by offering this deal to their Spanish counterparts.

Real Madrid has tried one way or another to get rid of Gareth Bale, mainly due to his high wage and his low level of commitment to the club, which was quite evident during the final game in the UEFA Euro Qualifiers.

The amount of criticism sparked by Bale by his infamous chant of "Wales. Golf. Madrid" has prompted Florentino Pérez and Co. to seek for a way out of their deal with the Welshman, and Tottenham's president Daniel Levy may have come up with a deal that will satisfy both clubs.

According to The Sun, Levy's intention to sign Bale would see Christian Eriksen going the other way, in what should be an interesting proposition for both clubs. Furthermore, Tottenham would add $33.6M to the deal, in order to satisfy the Danish player's desire to leave the club before he can join any other European side on a free deal next summer.

Real Madrid's president has been a fan of Eriksen's work for quite some time, but it was Zinedine Zidane's reluctance which prevented the deal from happening last summer. Now, with Bale's situation escalating by the minute, the easiest way out for both clubs would be striking a swap deal including these talented players, but a decision will not be made before January 1, 2020, when the winter transfer window begins.
