This season has been nothing but tremendous for Liverpool. After coming narrowly close to winning their first Premier League title since its inception in 1992. The Reds are yet to lose a single game this term, dropping points only in the 1-1 draw at Man United.
Despite this, one Leicester ace has handed the Merseyside giants a title warning. That man is none other than Ricardo Pereira, one of several key players in the Foxes’ stellar start to the season.
Brendan Rodgers side, who will welcome Jurgen Klopp’s high-flying team on Boxing Day, have stumbled in their last two games in the build-up to Thursday’s showdown. Leicester are second in the standings but have been held to 1-1 draw at Norwich before losing 3-1 at Man City.
As a result, Liverpool sit 10 points ahead of Vardy and Co. with an extra game in hand. Despite all of this, Pereira is adamant that the title race is not over.
"Here in England, you never know [about the Premier League race]," the full-back told Goal.
"But last year too, they were seven points ahead, and Manchester City finally won the title. I think that is not done yet, even if they have a very good advantage.
"[Thursday] will be a big game. We will face a very tough opponent, who is also the championship leader. We know it will be difficult, but we will play at home, with our fans.
"I think that if we defend well and we are effective, we can do something."
The last time these two sides met, Liverpool came out with a 2-1 win. The Reds were awarded a late and somewhat controversial penalty to come away with all three points so it will be interesting to see how this fixture unfolds.
