Primeira Liga - Matchday 12 listings, including Benfica vs Maritimo

November 29, 2019 By Oscar Rojas
The league leaders will try to keep their impressive form when they host one of the teams trying to avoid relegation.

The 2019-20 Primeira Liga season is picking up a good pace, with Benfica holding on to the top spot thanks to a massive winning streak.

The league leaders will lock horns with Marítimo in what should be an entertaining match for the home crowd, considering that the Eagles have won six games in a row against their rivals while keeping five clean sheets. The last game between these teams at Estadio Da Luz ended with a 6-0 score for Benfica.

Second-placed Porto gets to their game Monday night game in high spirits, mainly due to their UEFA Champions League win against Young Boys. The Dragons will want to keep their unbeaten streak going, but they will try to do so by scoring more than one goal, as their last two games ended with narrow 1-0 scores.

Famalicao's fairy tale continues in the Portuguese top-flight, but they will have to be wary of not kicking it back too much when they face Portimonense, who have failed to win any of their last six games.

Team news - Who's in, who's out?

  • Benfica will enter their game against Maritimo without Rafa and Haris Seferovic, both out due to injury.

  • Porto will host Pacos de Ferreira without Romario Baró, but Ze Luis could join him on the stands as he is still a doubt.

  • Famalicao will face their tie against Braga without Lionn, who was not able to recover from an injury. Added to tyhis absence, Patrick Willian is a doubt.

Quotes ahead of Matchday 12

Benfica's boss Bruno Lage will be celebrating 50 games as the Eagles' coach this weekend, but even if it's a moment to remember, the Portuguese tactician does not want to dismiss Maritimo due to their recent coaching change.

"It's an interesting record, but it's just for me. The most important thing is to have a great match on the return to our home. We're up against a tough, competent opponent who has swapped coaches, which could be extra motivation for the match, the coach stated.
