Despite the exciting match-up and intriguing permutations, much of the pre-match hype surrounded the two coaches and the constant discussion about Kylian Mbappe. The French attacker has heavily been linked with a move to Santiago Bernabeu recently, which isn’t new, but Zidane’s comments about the player have only added fuel to the speculation.
The Real Madrid boss was recently asked for his opinion on the 2018 World Cup winner and the coach admitted to being in love with the 20-year-old. As a result, many expected Thomas Tuchel to be irked by Zizou’s remark and his obsession with Mbappe, which is the normal reaction, but the PSG boss took a different approach.
Instead, he poked fun at the one-time Ballon d’Or winner. When asked what he thought about Zidane saying "I am already in love with him [Kylian]", Tuchel had a funny response.
"I don't know how in love Zidane is with Mbappe, but we really love our player," Tuchel said, as per Goal.
"The most important thing is that he is our player. We are happy to have him with us. When you can't have things you want, you want it even more."
The Ligue 1 champions have stated before that they have no intention of selling the 20-year-old. Of course, Mbappe’s dream of playing for Real Madrid might change everything but as things stand right now, the ball is firmly in PSG’s court.
