The Red Devils aim to bring on board the proven goal-getter to fix their striking problems.

Manchester United is reportedly considering a move for AS Roma striker Edin Dzeko in the upcoming winter transfer window. The Reds Devils are said to be keen on signing the Bosnian-Herzegovina international with a move for Juventus' Mario Mandzukic now in serious doubt.

Having failed to replace Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez who departed for Inter Milan this summer, the Old Trafford outfit has struggled to get the goals as it has been been hugely reliant on the likes of Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, Daniel James and Mason Greenwood. Comparatively, the youngsters have punched above their weight and have met expectations but their side ranking seventh in the Premier League does not align with the objectives set ahead of the season.

In a bid to salvage the situation, Manchester United is reportedly considering the prospect of bringing on board at least one striker in January. Juventus' Mario Mandzukic was touted as the potential signing in the winter transfer window having come close to joining Solskjaer's side this summer.

Nevertheless, according to ESPN, the Norwegian manager will rather seek to recruit Roma's Edin Dzeko with reservations about the ex-Croatian international emerging. The 33-year-old striker has lacked game time under Maurizio Sarri and was outrightly omitted from the Bianconeri's UEFA Champions League squad this season.

While he still remains available, United feels that Dzeko is a more suitable option. The former Manchester City striker has so far contributed six goals and two assists from 15 appearances in Serie A and the Europa League for Roma.
