The Dutch defender snubbed an offer from Barcelona to join Juventus in one of the transfer sagas of the summer.

One of the most discussed transfers of the summer was the one that saw Matthijs De Ligt leaving Ajax to join Juventus, even if Barcelona desperately tried to lure the Dutch defender to Spain. Unfortunately for the defender, his time at the Old Lady has not been sunshine and rainbows, according to former Barcelona striker and Dutch legend Patrick Kluivert, who spoke about the player's woes in Italy.

In an interview with Mundo Deportivo, Kluivert revealed that De Ligt is not having the best of times with the bianconeri, and he hinted that the Dutch starlet may be having thoughts on whether he made the best choice in joining the Vecchia Signora.

"I didn't personally try to convince him about joining Barcelona. I only told him about the positive aspects of the club and the city. We're obviously talking about a great defender and in the end he made a choice. I think he slightly regrets it now, but that's the way it is. In life, you must make choices, sometimes good ones and sometimes bad. You have to learn from your decisions," Kluivert said.

Kluivert, who currently works as Barcelona's academy director, also shared his views on Neymar's botched transfer and even offered himself as a middle man due to his relationship with Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

"I could try to mediate, but that's not my area. We're talking about one of the top players in the world. If it was easy to sign, it would mean he is not a top player. I can understand why Nasser wants him around, especially since Neymar is known around the world and can solve a game with one move," Kluivert concluded.
