Cristiano Ronaldo’s absence from Portugal vs Chile hasn’t reduced the expectations and hopes of Portuguese fans ahead of the game. After all, there’s Nani to watch out for!
The 24-year-old winger seems to struggle to acquire a Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo-like status. But how is that being possible considering his enormous amount of skills?

Nani can shoot and score from any distance; he’s fired in numerous dangerous volleys to prove this fact. He’s fast and creative on the ball as well.

Now if some insist that he’s already selfish enough on the pitch, Nani thinks that he in fact has much more individual powers to make explode. At Manchester United this season, he has become the man to watch and to fear ahead of matches. However, Red Devil supporters may still not put him on the same rank as former Manchester United play maker Cristiano Ronaldo.

So what is actually preventing Nani from showing his true face? To who belongs the veil that covers it? “To Ferguson” is the answer according to the player. At least, that is what he made people understand when he spoke to Spanish magazine Don Balon this week.

“When I’m playing, I try to enjoy myself. But it’s not always possible, because I have a responsibility to assume [in Manchester United],” he said.

“But something of the street remains in me. It’s not easy to show it at Manchester United because Sir Alex [Ferguson] doesn’t allow very much freedom.

“So I can’t do the tricks and the things that I used to do with my friends. But when the game is under control, I like taking a risk... and it makes me very happy if things work out.”

Alright. So Fergie doesn’t tell Nani, “go out there and enjoy yourself” as he used to tell Cristiano Ronaldo. Here, we’re not going to discuss the coach’s decisions. The focus, instead, is on the kind of attitude that Nani will display during Saturday’s Portugal vs Chile friendly.

Cristiano Ronaldo won’t feature in that match through injury and Alex Ferguson, evidently, won’t be there as well. So explode, Nani!
