Sidelined Cristiano Ronaldo will miss both Portugal vs Chile and Portugal vs Finland through injury. Could Ronaldo be faking his injuries with Real Madrid for some reasons?

Cristiano Ronaldo has been reported injured ahead of Portugal's friendly matches with Chile and FinlandWhen you look at Cristiano Ronaldo’s availability for Portugal since the past few months, you may want to ask yourself if coincidences really exist. It’s as if the star winger was most often timed to get sidelined just before international matches. On Wednesday, the Portugal captain claimed that he was “fed up with this injury” only to raise eyebrows among football fans who doubt the genuineness of the medical report.

Back in early September last year, Live Soccer TV put into question the topic of Cristiano Ronaldo's injuries – which inevitably comes back every time the Portugal captain is made unavailable for his country. In the following posts, Live Soccer TV centred the focus on the various facts and questions surrounding CR7’s fitness issues which have a considerable impact on both his image as a play maker and his career with Real Madrid and Portugal.

Portugal’s Test In Euro 2012 Qualifiers – Cristiano Ronaldo’s Injury: Real or Not?

The latter article pointed out a reasonable fact concerning the injury Ronaldo picked up back in August 2010 as Real Madrid made a disappointing start to La Liga with a goalless draw away to Real Mallorca. Cristiano Ronaldo was reported to have picked up an ankle injury and the estimated length for recovery was 3 weeks.

This meant that he was set to miss Portugal’s crucial Euro 2012 qualifying matches against Cyprus and Norway which preceded Real Madrid’s following games - against Osasuna and Ajax in the league and in the UEFA Champions League respectively. Indeed, Cristiano Ronaldo skipped Portugal’s two Euro 2012 qualifiers. Cristiano Ronaldo's career with Portugal has been interrupted with injuries, as reports say.

However, he was back before the 3-week timeline. And at the astonishment of some of his fans, Ronaldo even featured against Ajax during the full 90 minutes whereas he was supposed to miss that European encounter through injury!

One may suspect that Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League campaign and Cristiano Ronaldo’s strong business relations with Nike were prioritized, there. Indeed, Cristiano Ronaldo is believed to generate much money when playing in a Champions League match. Now whether this “far-thinking” thought contains some truth or not, the reality is that eyebrows are still raised and multiple questions are creating debates as Cristiano Ronaldo will be absent from Portugal vs Chile as well as from Portugal vs Finland.

Lately, Cristiano Ronaldo appeared to be struggling with his health. On March 3 against Malaga, although Mourinho had used all his available substitutes, the Portugal captain walked off the pitch injured after scoring a hat-trick. Ronaldo then skipped Madrid’s matches against low-profiled teams Racing and Hercules. But he return to Los Blancos’ starting line up against Lyon on March 16; note that this was a Champions League fixture. Any coincidences?

Well, let’s stipulate that Cristiano Ronaldo lasted only 70 minutes against Lyon due to fitness worries. The same thing happened during his next and last game so far which was against Atletico Madrid last weekend. After the game, it was confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo had picked up a harmstring injury which would see him miss 2 weeks of action.

With yet another Champions League fixture listed in Real Madrid’s agenda (a quarter-final game against Spurs on April 13), one may simply view Cristiano Ronaldo’s recent injury with Real Madrid in the way Tottenham Hotspur’s Tim Sherwood sees it, according to The Guardian:

“[Cristiano Ronaldo] didn’t look like he had a hamstring problem to me. It looked like he had two friendly games for Portugal which he might want to get out of.”
