Cristiano's record vs Diego Godin

Cristiano’s record vs Godin ahead of Juventus’ clash with Inter Milan

October 5, 2019 By Ali M.
The two crossed paths numerous times in the Madrid Derby but will now reignite their rivalry in Serie A.

Juventus and Inter Milan are set to lock horns in a highly-anticipated Serie A showdown. These two sides are the top two clubs in Italy right now, with the Nerazzurri boasting a perfect record and the Bianconeri being the defending champions.

Another interesting aspect of this game will be the battle between Diego Godin, who currently plies his trade at San Siro, and Cristiano Ronaldo. These two players have a long history of locking horns, both at a club and international level.

Godin, who became one of the best center-backs in the world during his Atletico days, is a familiar foe for Ronaldo, one of the best players to have graced the game. This will be their 32nd encounter, meaning they have faced off 31 times before.

While their only encounters weren’t in the Madrid Derby, 26 of them came courtesy of the battles between Los Blancos and Los Rojiblancos, including two Champions League finals. However, there was that round of 16 showdown between Uruguay and Portugal at the 2018 World Cup.

The most recent came in Atletico Madrid’s Champions League clash with Juventus last season, which the Serie A champions won 3-2 on aggregate. Currently, the head-to-head record favors the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

From their 31 encounters, Cristiano emerged triumphant on 11 occasions while the Uruguayan defender enjoyed victory 10 times, with 10 ending in draws. Furthermore, the 34-year-old has scored 22 goals in those games were they were on the field together while the center-back has found the back of the net only twice. Form favors Inter Milan and should they beat Sarri’s side, Diego will draw level in the head-to-head record.
