The current Reds manager has lift the lid on what led to the fate of his predecessor.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has explained that former Reds boss Brendan Rodgers lost his job because of his relationships and expectations at the club. The two managers will lock-horns at Anfield on Saturday with Leicester City coming to town.

Rodgers' will be making a return to his former stomping grounds for the first time since his contract was terminated in 2015. Despite the disappointments witnessed in his last two seasons, he is mostly remembered as took the Merseysiders closer to winning the Premier League before Jurgen Klopp's arrival.

While the 46-year-old manager's exploits remain indelible at Liverpool, he was shown the exit door after the club failed to show the zeal to challenge for the title once more. Nevertheless, his successor Jurgen Klopp believes that his coaching prowess are not to be faulted but instead, two key factors - relationships and expectations - led to his premature exit.

Addressing a news conference ahead of the Anfield outfit's clash with the Foxes, the German manager declared: "Only in public when a manager gets the sack that people think he lost his football brain or something. That is not how it happened.

"I knew when I came that he was not the reason that things didn't work out. Whatever it was, I don't know, but it was not his quality as a coach. It is not as easy as that.

"Expectations, relationships, whatever, if that doesn't work anymore, the club has to make a decision. That will happen one day and the club will make a decision."

Since leaving, Rodgers has gone ahead to win two Scottish Premier League titles, two Scottis Cups and three Scottish League Cups with Celtic. He was appointed as the manager of Leicester City in February 2019 and has so far supervised 10 wins, five draws and four losses across all competitions.
