The Welsh winger will be sanctioned for indiscipline.

Real Madrid is set to fine Gareth Bale after the winger failed to arrive on time ahead of the mid-week's Champions League clash with Club Brugge. The Welsh winger was made to sit out the encounter which ended in a surprise 2-2 draw at the Bernabeu on Wednesday.

Despite not being included in the matchday squad as a result of a minor injury, Bale was expected to show up with the rest of the squad as Real Madrid chased its first win in this season's European cup competition. Nevertheless, the former Tottenham superstar was captured by the television cameras arriving four minutes after the proceedings had begun.

The Welshman is set to return to action on Saturday as Real Madrid takes on Granada at home. As per Deportes Cuatro, he could be hit with a fine between €250 and €3,000 for turning up late to Wednesday's match-up. Ahead of the weekend's La Liga fixture Zinedine Zidane addressed the situation at a news conference. "That's something that stays inside," he said when asked about the matter.

"You have had information you shouldn't have. I have to speak to him, but I don't need to tell that to you. I speak to the player, but you shouldn't have that information."
