The attacking midfielder will exit the Etihad at the end of the season.

Manchester City skipper David Silva has revealed the motive behind his decision to quit Manchester City at the end of the season. The Spanish midfielder has stated that it is difficult to last at the club due to the competition for places in there.

Silva, 33, has spent almost a decade at Manchester City after joining as one of the many top players that ushered in the Sheikh Mansour dynasty at the Etihad. It has so far been an illustrious career for the Spanish midfielder who has been an integral figure in the success enjoyed by the club over the years.

Still, Silva is showing that he is capable of featuring for the first team of any top club in Europe and currently ranks among of the top assisters in the ongoing Premier League. However, the former Valencia star is ready to call it quits with the Citizens with Pep Guardiola even stating previously that he might struggle for minutes should he go beyond this season.

"Obviously, it's difficult [to leave after so many years]. It's been a long time, but all good things come to an end," he said according to MEN.

"I want it to be this way, at a great level. The club h as changed a lot. Every year, the team and the club have improved. That's why lasting here for a long time and playing regularly is really difficult.

"For that reason, I'm very pleased for what I have achieved during my time here.

"Life goes on, we'll see," he added.

"I don't know what I will do yet. I'll take some time to relax and then I'll think about it."
