The Red Devils could be putting an end to the transfer saga surrounding the player in the coming weeks,

David De Gea's Manchester United exit rumor could finally be thrown out the window with the Spanish goalkeeper set to sign a new deal at the club, according to reports. The uncertainty surrounding the 28-year-old shot-stopper's future could be addressed soon with the Red Devils readying a contract extension to tie him down on the long-term.

De Gea has barely a year left on his current contract and could leave Old Trafford on a free at the end of the season. As such rumors which emerged earlier this summer but were subsequently debunked suggested that Solskjaer's side could cash in on him in order to make a little gain.

In the past few months, a new deal for the former Atletico Madrid goalie has been brewing with negotiations believed to be yielding positive results. Now, according to Guardian, the Spaniard could be penning a contract extension that would see him earn wages in the region of the £290,000-a-week.

The deal will see De Gea earn the same take-home salary as midfield star Paul Pogba. A report by Telegraph in July also hinted at the 28-year-old goalkeeper potentially taking the captain's armband as part of the conditions for him commit to the Red Devils.
