PSG closes in on transfer agreement with Navas

PSG closes in on transfer agreement with Keylor Navas

August 22, 2019 By Oscar Rojas
The Costa Rican goalie will put an end to his stint at Real Madrid due to Zidane's decision to make Courtois his No.1 shot-stopper.

The end of an era is quickly approaching at Real Madrid. As reported earlier, Keylor Navas is negotiating his exit from Los Blancos, and PSG have emerged as the top candidates to lure the player away from the Bernabeu.

Navas' desire to leave the club comes from a few months back, when Zinedine Zidane was abundantly clear on who would be the team's first-choice goalkeeper this season. Since the starting nod was handed to Thibaut Courtois, Navas is allegedly tired of fighting for the No.1 spot at Real Madrid, which has seen him ask for a move.

The Costa Rican player had already made up his mind about leaving the Spanish capital and even reached an agreement with Les Parisiens last month, but Antero Henrique's exit as PSG's Sports Director and Los Blancos' desire to cash in on Navas' transfer brought the deal to a halt. Now, according to Marca, Navas has pushed for an exit away from the club, with the team's bosses already looking for his replacement.

Marca's report suggests that Navas will sign a two-year deal with PSG, where he will collect an $8M wage in each of those seasons.

The 32-year-old shot-stopper will put an end to a five-year stay with the Spanish giants, where he won three UEFA Champions League titles, the 2016-17 La Liga trophy, three UEFA Super Cups and four FIFA Club World Cup titles, among many other trophies. But even with that list of trophies to his name, Navas never earned enough praise from fans or experts.
