Leagues Cup - Where to watch the tournament's semi-finals

August 20, 2019 By Oscar Rojas
The LA Galaxy is the only MLS team still in the hunt for this trophy. Find out if they can step up to the challenge against Cruz Azul, América and Tigres

The first edition of the Leagues Cup enters its semi-final stage. Three Liga MX sides and only one MLS club will fight for a spot in the title clash, with all to play for in Los Angeles and Houston, respectively.

The LA Galaxy is the only MLS team still involved in this tournament, which will force them to put in a little extra effort to dismiss their rivals tonight. The first match of the evening will be the one between América and Tigres, while the semi-final stage will come to an end when the Californian side faces Cruz Azul.

Without further ado, here's a brief preview of each game taking place tonight.

América vs Tigres - August 20, 2019, 19:30 CT/ 20:00 ET

Some refer to this game as the new Clásico in the Mexican top-flight, given the rivalry between these teams in the ongoing decade. América and Tigres will lock horns for the second time this semester, and just days away from their Liga MX matchup, which hints that whatever the outcome of the game, all scores will be settled on Saturday's clash. Both teams get to this match in shaky form, since América has been decimated for their intense transfer activity and Tigres was not able to win their most recent match against a recently promoted team. Either way, when these teams collide, fans need to keep track of all the action, which is set to take place at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston.

LA Galaxy vs Cruz Azul - August 20, 2019, 21:30 CT/ 22:30 ET

The Galaxy was the only MLS team capable of getting past their Liga MX counterparts, and in order to guarantee their presence in the final match, coach Guillermo Barros Schelotto has called up his big guns, including none other than Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Cristian Pavón. Cruz Azul is eager to repeat their victory against an MLS side, but being away from home and having the Swedish ace on the other team will add some spice to this heated semi-final game.
