The Blues could welcome one key player back to the lineup for their UEFA Super Cup clash with Liverpool.

Losing 4-0 at Old Trafford was the worst possible score line for Chelsea heading into their UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday. Fortunately for the Blues, they have received a huge boost ahead of the tie.

Lampard’s men are gearing up to take on Liverpool, the winners of last season’s UEFA Champions League title. A repeat of their display against Man United will likely end in an embarrassment for the London giants, given how deadly Salah and Co. are but Super Frank looks to have one key player back in the squad.

That man is none other than Willian. The Brazilian ace missed out on the opening game due to his participation in the Copa America tournament over the summer which his nation won.

The winger, however, played no part in the 3-1 victory over Peru in the final after picking up a knee injury in the semi-final. The attacker had not fully recovered in time for Sunday’s Old Trafford visit but he has made the trip to Istanbul for the Super Cup. Doubts still linger over his fitness, but Lampard is ready to throw him straight back in if cleared to play.

This would be a huge boost for the Blues as they aim to make amends for the weekend defeat. Despite threatening Solskjaer’s defense on several instances in the 4-0 defeat, inexperience and poor decision making got the better of them. This where the 31-year-old’s experience and talents would come in handy.

Another key player to make the trip is Antonio Rudiger. In his absence, Chelsea’s back-four was nothing short of embarrassing. However, despite making the trip, the German defender isn’t expected to start as he is nowhere near being fully fit. He was initially penciled in to make his return against Wolves next month but could return earlier.
