Inter Miami will start playing in the North American league in 2020, with their English owner ready to splash the cash to boost his squad.

Last week, MLS fans saw David Beckham's new team unveiling the first three players for his new franchise, but a new name has been dropped as the team's first major signing for their debut campaign.

The team's English owner wanted to attract Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi to his MLS project, but both footballers seem determined to extend their stay in Europe for quite a while. With that in mind, Beckham started to look into those names that can attract massive crowds to his new stadium, and given his good relationship with PSG's main men, he has struck a deal to see Edinson Cavani join the team when his contract with Les Parisiens comes to an end.

The report issued by Fox Sports suggests that Cavani is set to end his stay at Parc Des Princes when the ongoing Ligue 1 season comes to a close. The Uruguayan striker will leave the French side after becoming the team's all-time top scorer. As of now, Cavani is six goals away from reaching 200 goals with Les Parisiens.

The report was echoed by MLS' official Twitter feed earlier today.

Inter Miami FC unveiled Matías Pellegrini, Julián Carranza and Christian Makoun last week as their first signings, but Cavani's name will surely become the first marquee signing of a highly-anticipated project.
