Pep Guardiola is keen on landing one more signing in what has been a quiet summer for the Premier League holders.

With the 2019-20 season right about to start in the Premier League, Manchester City fans want more activity from their team in terms of new signings. Well, Pep Guardiola and his crew seem to have saved the best for last, as the English champions are plotting one more transfer before transfer deadline day in England.

According to a report by The Mirror, Pep Guardiola wants to prepare his run for a third straight EPL title by signing one more right back, with Juventus' Joao Cancelo being his preferred option. Since the Citizens are not interested in paying over $58M for the player's services, the EPL side might offer Danilo as a sweetener in a cash-plus-player deal.

Guardiola must make up his mind on this matter soon, as they are facing some stiff competition to complete this transfer. Barcelona and Bayern have also shown interest in the footballer, but both of those teams have four weeks to make the deal happen. Manchester City needs to step their pursuit up, since the transfer window in England concludes on August 8.

The report states that Guardiola is keen on hiring the player to fight for a regular spot in his lineup alongside Kyle Walker, who was the regular owner of that spot for most of the 2018-19 season, but some of his performances were a bit lackluster. Guardiola does not want that to happen again, and Cancelo seems to be a perfect fit for his intentions.

Manchester City has not been involved in other transfer rumors before the end of the transfer window, and with that in mind, Cancelo's signing would round up Pep's squad ahead of the start of the season.

Meanwhile, the Citizens will try to win the FA Community Shield on Sunday, when Guardiola's men face Liverpool in a highly-anticipated matchup between the best teams of the 2018-19 campaign.
