The Nerazzurri are refusing to cough up more money to secure the service of the Belgian superstar.

Negotiations for Romelu Lukaku's purported move to Inter Milan has hit a snag with the Nerazzurri refusing to meet Manchester United's valuation of the Belgian striker. Talks for the former Everton star's move to the Serie A outfit are well advance but the club is adamant to submit an improved offer having seen two bids rejected this summer.

It is an open secret that Lukaku is angling towards a switch to Serie A having failed to live up to the mark at Manchester United. After missing all of the Red Devils' preseason matches in Australia, Singapore and China due to an injury, the 26-year-old striker has been left out of the squad traveling for Tuesday's friendly against Kristiansund in Norway amid talks of his imminent exit.

The player also dropped a cryptic post on Twitter hinting at his imminent departure. Nonetheless, his club and Inter are yet to reach a level ground on his transfer fee with reports stating that the Red Devils have rejected £54 million bid for the Belgian.

The Premier League outfit values Romelu Lukaku at £75 million as it aims to recoup the amount paid to secure his service from back in 2017. As things stand, the deal could fall on rocks with Inter Milan refusing to splash more cash for the signature of the striker.

Inter chief executive Beppe Marotta insists that the offer is a fair one in the current transfer market and hinted at his side possibly pursuing other alternatives.

"We made a strong offer, one that is valid and suited to the transfer value of the player and we were unable to conclude a deal," he told Sky Sport Italia.

"The club is strong, but we need to stay within certain parameters. The club has made big investments and we believe that we're already at a good stage in the process.

"We are ready to pounce on opportunities, but prices are nowadays very high indeed. We'll continue to monitor the situation and anything can happen on the market."

With the transfer window in England closing in the coming days, the days ahead could be interesting as Lukaku already has his heart set on an exit.
