The Reds manager has not succeeded in an attempt to recruit the 36-year-old free-agent.

Liverpool headcoach Jurgen Klopp was interested in signing former Bayern Munich star Franck Ribery, according to reports. The 52-year-old German manager has, so far, not seen his plan materilizing with the basis for a probable move to Merseyside yet to present itself.

Following an impressive charge in the English Premier League last season coupled with a triumphant campaign in the UEFA Champions League, the Reds are yet to significantly bolster their ranks in this summer's transfer window. The only business done so far is that which involves the transfer of highly-rated Dutch defender Sepp van den Berg from Eredivise side PEC Zwolle.

Relatively, there have been a few outgoings with the likes of Daniel Sturridge and Alberto Moreno all securing moves elsewhere. While the pair is yet to be replaced, French publication L'Equipe has revealed that the lack of transfer activity involving key figures in Liverpool's infamous attack is what has deterred Jurgen Klopp from actively pursuing the signing of free-agent Franck Ribery.

Per the report, the former Borussia Dortmund manager see no point in bringing the former Bavarian onboard with no space freed up to welcome his arrival. Instead, the manager has expressed his desire to tie down his current players to new long term deals with his project yielding desired results.

"That's actually our transfers, but nobody's interested in hearing that really because that's how it is," he said in reference to his players being offered contract extensions.

"You have a player, he's good, you want to keep him, if he signs a new contract then for a few people, it means only that he will be more expensive when we sell him or whatever, or that it doesn't mean anything nowadays.

"In our case, these are our transfers. The new contracts and keeping these boys here is a strong, strong signal for the outside world.

"It's wonderful sign, to be honest. I like the fact that these boys are really at a good football age. They won the European Cup, which is good and helps of course because it increases your base."
