The Catalans are ready to pip the Premier League champions to the former La Liga fullback.

Barcelona has reportedly emerged as frontrunners to secure the signing of Juventus's Joao Cancelo ahead of Manchester City. The Blaugrana emergence is expected to cause the Portuguese fullback to make a sensational U-turn having previously agreed personal terms with the Citizens.

Despite joining the Old Ladies from Valencia just over a year ago, Cancelo has been heavily linked with a departure this summer. The 25-year-old impressed in the campaign to win the Scudetto last season, making 25 league appearances in total.

Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici and new manager Maurizio Sarri are all reportedly in favor of the Portuguese's defender's sale as the Turin club aims to raise money to seal Matthias de Ligt's signing from Ajax.

Earlier reports suggested that Pep Guardiola is keen on recruiting the right-back for Man City. However, advances made by the Citizens were thrown out considering they were interested in including Danilo as as part of the deal, contrary to Juve's cash only demand.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Barcelona has now jumped in front of the queue for Joao Cancelo while Bayern Munich is also monitoring the situation. The former Valencia defender is valued between €55-60 million euros.
