How did Madagascar and Tunisia get to the quarterfinal?

Madagascar has enjoyed a fairytale debut at the Africa Cup of Nations as it is yet to be beaten in the four matches it has played so far. The Barea progressed to the knockout phase of the tournament by topping Group B.

They drew 2-2 with Guinea in their first game, beat Burundi 1-0 in the second fixture and suprisingly got the better of Nigeria via a 2-0 victory in the final group enxounter. At the Round of 16, Madagascar drew 2-2 with DR Congo but eliminated the Leopards via the penalty shootout.

Relatively, Tunisia's journey at Egypt 2019 has been interesting although uninspring. The Carthage Eagles progressed out of Group E as runners-up after securing three successive draws against Angola, Mali and Mauritania. 

Another 1-1 draw ensued during regulation time in their Round of 16 clash with Ghana although they booked their spot in the last eight with a 5-4 win in the penalty shootouts.
