The Super Eagles are through!

The quarter-final clash between Nigeria and South Africa was also not short of drama with the former keeping it late to eliminate the Bafana Bafana.

The first 45 minutes of the encounter was relatively drab although the Super Eagles managed to enter the break in front. Nevertheless, Samuel Chukueweze's 27th minute strike did not last for the whole marathon with Bongani Zungu restoring parity for South Africa in the second half.

The validity of the goal was initially debatable as the defender appeared to have been in an offside position before heading home the 71st-minute equaliser. But a brief VAR review subsequently overturned the decision and ruled in favour of Stuart Baxter's men as the ball deflected off the back of Odion Ighalo before being directed into goal by Zungu.

The prospect of the clash being forced into extra-time was then shattered after an unmarked William Troost-Ekong redirected Simon Moses' teasing cross into Bafana Bafana's net with just a minute of regulation time to play. Watch the goal below:

The win meant that Nigeria could take on either Algeria or Ivory Coast in the other semi-final fixture at AFCON 2019 inside Cairo's 30th June Stadium on July 14.
