The North London side is ready to cut their losses regarding Christian Eriksen, according to a report by British newspapers.

The ball seems to be on Real Madrid's side of the pitch when it comes to Christian Eriksen's transfer.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Tottenham playmaker Christian Eriksen is still reluctant to sign a contract extension with the North London side. With that in mind, and considering that Real Madrid tried to sign the footballer one year ago, Spurs' president Daniel Levy has reportedly phoned Florentino Pérez's right-hand man, José Angel Sánchez, to discuss the Danish ace's transfer.

Apparently, Daniel Levy is willing to cut his losses when it comes to the Dane's transfer, since the player is out of contract with the club next season. If things go Eriksen's way, the player would leave Spurs on a free transfer, which is not acceptable to Levy. With that in mind, the English exec will try to sell Eriksen's rights to Los Blancos, in an effort to cash in on a player rather than letting him leave on a free deal.

The footballer revealed earlier this month that he would like to take part of a "bigger challenge", naming Real Madrid in that interview with a Danish media outlet. Real Madrid seems to have delayed all negotiations after unveiling Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Rodrygo, Eder Militao and Ferland Mendy. Florentino Pérez wants to cash in on some of Real Madrid's outcasts before attempting to sign one more player for Zidane's squad.

Real Madrid has apparently put negotiations for Paul Pogba and Donny Van de Beek on hold before more players can be offloaded, and that would also be a setback in any potential deal involving Eriksen.

The Danish footballer was spotted in the Spanish capital with his family, where they were apparently looking for a residence in an attempt to take a stance on a possible deal.

With the summer transfer window being officially open on Monday, Eriksen's future will certainly be one of the major talking points of the season. Be sure to check Live Soccer TV for updates on this and other transfers involving the most-followed clubs in the world.
