The London club is about to smash its transfer record to recruit the Frenchman.

Tottenham Hotspur is on the verge of completing a club record move for Olympique Lyonnais midfielder Ndombele Tanguy. The Premier League outfit is reportedly in advance talks to sign the Frenchman for 62 million euros plus add-ons.

The highly-rated 22-year-old central midfielder has been a subject of transfer speculation after impressing in the Ligue 1 as well the Champions League this season. As a result, a host of top European clubs including Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are believed to be keen on the midfielder's signing.

However, according to Sky Sport's Gianluca Di Marzio, Tottenham is now the frontrunner in the race. As per the report, the midfielder will sign a contract until June 2024 and will complete his medical in the coming days.

Earlier on Tuesday, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas hinted at an imminent departure for Ndombele. In his place, the French outfit has identified Lille's Thiago Mendes as the potential replacement.

"Ndombele has received offers from many big clubs, but there is nothing concrete.

"We do not need to sell, but if an important offer were to arrive, we would take it into consideration."

Ndombele scored three goals and registered eight assists in 49 appearances for Lyon this season. The 22-year-old central midfielder already has four senior caps for the French national team.
