2019 AFCON: How to watch Egypt vs DR Congo live on June 26

June 25, 2019 By Michelle Bonsu
Live Soccer TV's match preview provides match facts, team news, and global broadcast listings for Egypt vs. DR Congo.

Current form: Egypt vs DR Congo

Despite being one of the favorites to win this competition, 2019 AFCON hosts Egypt had to labor a lot more than expected against Zimbabwe due to their opponents' strong defensive showing and the master-class performance of shot-stopper Edmore Sibanda. However, the Pharaohs finally got a breakthrough as Trezeguet found the back of the net just before the end of the first period, and it proved to be the game-winner as Zimbabwe were unable to find a way back into the game.

Mohamed Salah, who has been directly involved in four of his team's last six goals in this competition, was unusually subdued during Egypt's opening match and fans will hope to see the Liverpool ace find his footing as the Pharaohs seek to make it an eighth AFCON title this summer. Overall, the hosts have improved form-wise since the start of 2019, and with their narrow win against Zimbabwe, they now are on a three-game winning streak. That's much more promising that earlier on this year, when they drew Niger 1-1 in qualifying and lost 1-0 to Nigeria in a pre-tournament friendly.

DR Congo, meanwhile, started their AFCON campaign off on the wrong footing as they were beaten 2-0 by Uganda, and as a result, they are last in their quartet. The Leopards, who finished third at the 2015 edition, now face an uphill battle to book their ticket to the next round as the defeat to Uganda really took some by surprise. That being said, DR Congo have not been in the best form since the start of the year; in fact, they had won just one of their three games prior to this tournament and had to settle for a draw against Kenya (1-1) and were frustrated as Burkina Faso held them to a scoreless stalemate.
