The highly sought-after teenager revealed what Ronaldo said after Portugal's 1-0 victory over the Netherlands.

Sunday was another amazing night in Cristiano Ronaldo's career. The superstar led his country to a second international trophy, guiding them to a 1-0 victory over the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League final.

Winning the inaugural tournament was an amazing moment for the attacker and his home country. However, the 34-year-old did not forget his Juventus duties as it has been revealed that he asked a Dutch starlet to join the Bianconeri.

That player is none other than Matthijs de Ligt. The Netherlands center-back is one of the most sought-after players this summer after captaining Ajax to the Champions League semi-finals but the Serie A outfit faces stiff competition in this transfer saga.

Barcelona is deemed to be the favorite while Liverpool and PSG are rumored to be in the mix but the five-time Ballon d'Or has done his part to lure him to Turin. De Ligt admitted after the game that Ronaldo approached him in their third encounter in 2019.

"Ronaldo asked me to go to Juventus," De Ligt admitted to reporters after the defeat (as per Marca).

"I was surprised by his request, which is why I laughed. I didn't understand him at first."

The 19-year-old then offered an update on his future, stating that he will now go on holiday before considering his options. At Juventus, he would learn from two of the best defenders in the world -- Chiellini and Bonucci. At Camp Nou, he would team up with buddy and countryman Frenkie De Jong. Both teams would benefit from his services; all that's left is for De Ligt to choose his next destination.
