The two could face off in Saturday's final but the Egyptian has already fired shots.

The Champions League final is here. After a roller-coaster European season that was 2018/19, a new champion will be crowned in Saturday's highly-anticipated final.

Liverpool will lock horns with Tottenham in Madrid with the likes of Mohamed Salah set to take center-stage. Question marks remain over Harry Kane's fitness, but when the issue of his absence was brought up to the Egyptian star, he could not help but aim a dig at the Englishman.

The Reds ace sat down for an interview with BT Sport and was asked by Gary Linekar whether he wishes the Spurs goalscoring machine missed the ultimate game. At first, Salah was baffled by the question but after Linekar explained that if he was an Anfield player he'd hope Kane misses the game, the Egyptian ace gave his thoughts on the matter.

Here is where the 26-year-old tossed in his dig at the Three Lions captain, poking fun at Kane's inferior goalscoring record since he arrived at Anfield. "It’s a good competition when you play against the top in the game," Salah said (as per the Metro).

"Harry Kane is a good player, he’s proved that for many years.

"He’s a top scorer for the team, for English football… before I came [laughs], I’m sorry!

"So, it’s good to be in a final, it’s something good to push me more."

The Liverpool star missed his team's historic comeback against Barcelona that earned them a ticket to Madrid. After going 3-0 down in the first leg, Klopp's men went on to win 4-0 at home to progress to the final.

As for Pochettino's side, they too sealed their spot courtesy of a comeback. The north London outfit was 2-0 down at Ajax at one point of the second-leg tie (3-0 on aggregate) but fought back to win 3-2 thanks to a Lucas Moura hat-trick, going through on away goals.

An all-Premier League final has been set as a result. Both teams are staring at the prospect of winning this prestigious title or ending the season trophyless. Expect a thrilling battle on Saturday.
