There will be no Carles Puyol in Tuesday’s Barcelona vs Arsenal match in the UEFA Champions League. Puyol missed the first leg of this European tie against the Gunners as well.
The Barcelona defender was expected to win his fitness race in time as the Catalans aim to overturn the 2-1 defeat they suffered at the Emirates Stadium in the hands of Arsenal a few weeks ago. However, it has been understood that Carles Puyol still has knee troubles as a statement on Barca’s official website could read:

“Carles Puyol will not be available for the Champions League match against Arsenal on Tuesday.

“The captain has been feeling problems in relation to his previous injury, and so he will not be able to play in the Champions League.”

In Carles Puyol’s absence, Barcelona’s defence conceded 2 late goals in London from Robin van Persie and Arshavin respectively. The Catalans are now left with the task of defeating Arsenal at the Camp Nou at all cost. They will be hoping to make a repeat of last season’s 4-1 demolition of the Gunners in Spain.
