The Red Devils are closing in on the signing of one of its long-term transfer targets.

Premier League outfit Manchester United has made 'initial contact' with Fulham over the signing of Ryan Sessegnon, a Sky Sports report claims. The Red Devils are long-term admirers of the English starlet are now believed to front-runners for to secure the players signature amid interest from host of top European clubs.

Despite Fulham getting relegated from the Premier League, Sessegnon enjoyed an okay season, scoring two goals and registering six assists in 35 matches. Hailed as one of England's finest upcoming talents, the 18-year-old is reportedly on the radar of the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, PSG, Juventus and RB Leipzig.

At the moment, the Fulham winger is stalling on signing a new contract despite having just a year left on his current deal. With the Englishman entering free agency next year, the Cottagers are hoping to cash in on him this summer and it is understood that a fee in the region of 40 million pounds has been quoted by the Championship club.

Invariably so, Manchester United aims at recruiting Sessegnon in order to endorse Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's desire to bring in young, homegrown and 'hungry' players this summer. The Red Devils are said to be interested in signing Swansea City's 21-year-old winger Daniel James, Newcastle United's Sean Longstaff, West Ham's Declan Rice and Crystal Palace Player of the Year Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho is also reportedly on the Old Trafford outfit's radar although a transfer looks unlikely following the club's failure to secure a spot in the Champions League next season.
