The Italian boss is set to be sacked this summer, but not before the UEFA Europa League final.

No matter what happens in the UEFA Europa League, Maurizio Sarri is living his final days as Chelsea's boss.

The Italian tactician's had a tumultuous debut in the English Premier League, which saw the Blues end the season in third place. With that in mind, and despite the team's decent performance in the Europa League, Roman Abramovich has already lined up quite a familiar name to take over as coach: Frank Lampard.

According to Italian TV station Sport Mediaset, Lampard will return to Stamford Bridge after leading Derby County to the playoff stage of the Championship. Derby County will fight for the last promotion spot in the English top tier against Aston Villa on May 27, where he will face none other than his former team-mate John Terry.

The former midfielder shared his views on Eden Hazard's potential transfer to Real Madrid, and urged the team to put their faith in their homegrown players, hinting that he has not lost sight of how his former club is doing.

Sarri has admitted that he would like to return for a second year as Chelsea's manager, but he has also been linked to Juventus' coaching gig, where he'd replace Massimiliano Allegri.

Lampard's appointment as boss would be an effort by Abramovich to satisfy the team's fans in what has been a dismal season. The only certainty we have right now is that there might not be more developments on this matter until Chelsea plays the UEFA Europa League Final on May 29.
