The bitter rivals were entangled in the CONCACAF Champions League final less than a month ago. Will Tigres earn their payback?

What is Monterrey and Tigres UANL's form ahead of this game?

Monterrey has only been able to win two out of their six most recent games, both of them with similar 1-0 scores. Their win against Necaxa on Sunday ended a two-game losing streak, which started against Atlas on Matchday 17 (2-0), and stretched to their first liguilla match against Necaxa (1-0).

Tigres makes it to this clash with only one win in their last five games. Ferreti's men were only able to beat Chivas (2-1), but their four remaining games ended in a draw. Curiously, their most recent loss came when they hosted Monterrey in the first leg of the CONCACAF Champions League final, in a game that ended with a 1-0 win for Rayados.

Monterrey made it to the final four by eliminating Necaxa, but they were only able to make it past Los Rayos thanks to their better ranking in the Liga MX standings. Rayados claimed a one-nil win in the return leg, which was enough to end Necaxa's chances in the Quarterfinal stage.

Tigres was only eight minutes away from being eliminated, since Pachuca scored a crucial goal in the return leg of their quarterfinal matchup. Eventually, Los Tigres equalized the tie and the aggregate, paving the way for a spot in the semis. Tigres conceded at least one goal for the seventh straight game, something that should give coach Ricardo Ferreti something to think about.
