The Gunners and the Red Devils could profit from the Citizens being slapped with a season-long ban from the Champions League if found guilty of FFP breaches.

According to the latest reports, Man City is facing a potential Champions League ban despite winning the Premier League title. This nightmare stems from the club alleged FFP breaches which were brought to light by Der Spiegel.

The Citizens have denied any wrongdoing but are under UEFA investigation nonetheless, with a verdict expected to be revealed in the coming weeks. If found guilty of irregularities, European football's governing body will reportedly push to bar the English giant's from next season's Champions League.

Should that occur, a space in Europe's top-tier club competition could open up for Arsenal or Man United. Under the competition's regulations, England must have four participants and as stipulated in article 4.08, should one team not be admitted to the tournament, they will be "replaced by the next best-placed club in the top domestic championship of the same association".

The Gunners missed out on a top-four finish and came in fifth but should Man City be banned, that vacancy should go to Emery's men given that they are the next best-placed club. However, should Aubameyang and Co. win the Europa League, that ticket would go to Man United.

Arsenal will face Chelsea in the final in Baku and should they beat the Blues, which would earn them a spot in the Champions League, the vacancy left by Man City cannot go to the north London side. The Red Devils would be next in line to complete England's lineup of five participants.

However, as things stand right now, Man City has not been charged with any wrongdoing. Should the verdict go against them, expect the Premier League champion to take their fight to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
