The 30-year-old striker has identified the result which proved to be the turning point in club's fight for the league title.

Sergio Aguero has pinpointed Manchester City's second round victory over Liverpool as the pivotal moment of their incredible Premier League title race. The Argentine striker's side remarkably edged the Reds by a single point to secure a back-to-back title win following Sunday's 4-1 victory over Brighton.

Back in January, City secured a 2-1 victory in a heated clash at the Etihad against Liverpool. The two clubs subsequently enjoyed alternating spells at the top of the league table although it was the former who eventually clinched the trophy with 98 points after a remarkable 14-game winning streak at the end.

Following Sunday's triumph, Sergio Aguero revealed that the win over Liverpool was what turned the tide in City's favor.

"The Premier League is complicated," he stated as per Mirror.

"I've been here eight years and the truth is that every game is difficult. [This season] we knew that our only option was to win.

"I think the key was in January when we beat them and managed to get a few points closer, and after that it was a question of them drawing a few games.

"We knew that Liverpool were always there in the fight, but luckily we could just think about ourselves and we knew that we had to win today.

"That's how it went and I'm happy with my fourth Premier League title and I hope it goes on like this."

Aguero finished the Premier League season with 21 goals and was just a strike away from sharing the Golden Boot with Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
