Liverpool pushed Man City to the wire in the 2018/19 Premier League race, but the Reds just came up short in their attempt to lift the title. Everything was decided in the final round of this season, but it wasn't a fairy tale ending for the Reds.
Despite beating Wolves 2-0 in their final game of the season, that victory wasn't enough to see the Merseyside giant end their long wait for the Premier League title. Klopp's crew needed a slip-up from the Citizens but that did not happen, as Guardiola's men dispatched Brighton with ease.
It was still an impressive campaign from Liverpool. Their tally of 97 points makes them the greatest second-placed team in the history of Europe's top five leagues. They beat the record previously held by Real Madrid at 96 points.

Their 97 points in 2018-19 beats Real Madrid's 96 from 2009-10.

However, the amazing numbers did not stop there. Klopp's crew finished the season unbeaten at Anfield, and their tally of 31 wins this term is the second most in a single season. Additionally, having lost only one game in 2018/19, Liverpool registered the third-highest points tally in Premier League history.

Regardless, this did not stop the Reds from being severely trolled on social media. Many took to Twitter to poke fun at the Anfield side after "bottling" yet another title campaign. Check out the best reactions below.
