The Catalans have identified a possible addition ahead of the summer transfer window.

Spanish heavyweights Barcelona is reportedly closing in on the signing of Real Betis goalkeeper Pau Lopez. The Blaugrana is keen on bringing the 24-year-old shot stopper to Camp Nou to deputize Ter Stegen with second-choice goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen set to depart this summer.

Pau Lopez has impressed in La Liga this season after he joined the Beticos on a free transfer from Barca's Catalonia rivals Espanyol in 2018. Back in 2016, the Spanish goalkeeper was at the centre of controversy after he repeatedly stamped on Lionel Messi when the two players became entangled during a domestic cup fixture between his former club and Barcelona.

Apparently, the two players might soon become teammates and according Estadio Deportivo as per Catalan publication Sport, Betis will look to do business should Barcelona activate the goalkeeper's 35 million-euro release clause. Nonetheless, it is understood that Barcelona is not willing to spend that amount of money on the 24-year-old shot-stopper and will potentially submit a player plus cash offer to Real Betis.

Meanwhile, while Pau Lopez may be among the new recruitments that may head to Camp Nou, a few star names in the Barca ranks will possibly head out in the opposite direction. Recent speculations indicate that Philippe Coutinho, Ivan Rakitic, Samuel Umtiti and Malcom may be offloaded.
