Manchester United is sixth on the league table. Cardiff ranks 18th.
An unimpressive campaign in recent months has overshadowed the flawless run which immediately followed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's appointment as Manchester United manager. The change in fortune has resulted in the Red Devils missing out on Champions League football for next season.
At the moment, they are without victory in five matches across all competitions and have managed just two wins in the last 10 matches.
Sunday's opponent, Cardiff City, also boasts a similar record as it has registered just two wins in the last 10 matches. The remaining eight games have all ended in defeats.
Manchester United's Eric Bailly and Alexis Sanchez are completely ruled out of the clash with respective injuries. Lead striker Romelu Lukaku also remains a doubt after missing the 1-1 draw with Huddersfield with an injury.
For Cardiff, Joe Ralls, Callum Paterson and Sol Bamba are all sidelined for Sunday's clash. Meanwhile, no player is suspended for both clubs.
The two teams have met 30 times in the past with Manchester United winning half of the matches. There have been eight draws whereas Cardiff has been victorious in seven of the meetings.
A fixture between the two clubs earlier this season resulted in a 5-1 win for Manchester United.
SKY GO Extra and Sky Sports Footbal will air Manchester United vs Cardiff City live in the UK.
